The Eden Project
The Eden Project at a Glance
The complex is made up of two massive enclosures that comprise adjoining domes which is home to countless plant species, and each enclosure goes so far to emulate a natural biome. These biomes have hundreds of pentagonal and hexagonal ethylene tetrafluoroethylene inflated cells, which are supported by geodesic tubular steel domes.
Appearing part, a lunar landing station and villain's lair from James Bond, the Eden Project's enormous hemispherical greenhouses have turned into a symbol of Cornwall's renaissance. Conceived by former record producer Tim Smit and constructed in a former clay pit close to St Austell, Eden's glass-encased biomes reproduce major global climate systems but in microcosm, ranging from citrus groves, colorful flowers of the Mediterranean, lush jungles, banana trees to olive trees. The gardens outside consist of local wildflowers, Cornish plants, and even flora from South Korea and South Africa.
Erected to mark the beginning of the new millennium, but now regarded as one of England's modern architectural marvels, the Eden Project attempts to explore the complicated issues of both conservation and environment, as well as lead the way to a greener and cleaner future for everyone. Exhibitions encompass from global warming, rubber creation to chocolate making. It's truly amazing, educational, and even inspiring.
Eden Project Biomes
Starting from the visitor center, paths take you into the pit; here's where the 2 biomes tower like huge bubble domes with surrounding landscaped gardens. Every biome is filled with fauna which would thrive in its natural habitat, exploring the ways in which animals, insects, plants, weather, and climate interact to produce their unique ecosystems. The main attraction here is the tropical, steamy Rainforest Biome; there's a gravity-defying treetop pathway winding its way via the jungle canopy.
Adventures
Eden provides the longest zip wire in England, a huge gravity swing, a 12-meter-high bungee drop, and even a heart racing 25-meter free fall leap onto an airbag.
During summer the biomes frequently offer space for live concerts while Eden sessions are occurring, and in winter provide a full-scale ice rink.
